At Flora Lane Studios, everything begins with a simple belief: flowers are more than decoration. They are a living, ever-changing art form. They reflect the place, the season, and the hands that grew them.

 

The word flora describes the collection of plants unique to a particular landscape. To me, it represents the incredible beauty of God’s creation, the privilege of living in a place like British Columbia, and the abundance that each season brings. Rather than looking beyond our own province, I choose to design with flowers that are grown here, embracing what is naturally blooming at the time of your celebration. It's a way of creating that feels more connected, not only to the land, but to the people who dedicate their lives to growing these flowers.

 

Choosing local isn't simply a sourcing decision; it's the foundation of my creative process. Every season offers its own colours, textures, movement, and character. Instead of asking nature to conform to a design, I allow the design to be shaped by nature. That approach results in arrangements that feel organic, expressive, and impossible to replicate. Just as no two gardens are the same, no two celebrations are either.

 

Supporting local flowers also means investing in something much bigger than a beautiful event. It means championing British Columbia's flower farmers, reducing the distance flowers travel, and helping build a stronger future for sustainable floriculture in our province. Every locally grown stem tells the story of the people and the land behind it, and I believe those stories deserve to be celebrated.

 

My hope is that every arrangement invites people to see flowers a little differently. Not as something to simply fill a space, but as a medium for creativity, emotion, and storytelling. Flowers have the ability to transform a space, evoke memory, and reflect the beauty of God's creation in a way that feels both fleeting and deeply meaningful.

 

This philosophy is at the heart of every design I create. It's an invitation to celebrate the beauty of what's here, what's in season, and what makes this place we call home so extraordinary.
